DO THE MOST GOOD FOR FARM ANIMALS

We’ve done the math. Here is how far your donation can go for chickens who need your help.

Where your money goes

For every $1 you give, 80¢ goes directly to our work improving the lives of farm animals. We spend the other 20¢ on generating the next $1.

Your single donation will be dedicated to ending factory farming. Monthly donations will both help further the Better Chicken Initiative and boost Compassion’s other campaigns to fix our broken food system.

Make your dollar go further for farm animals

Taking on factory farming—a multi-billion dollar industry—requires a strategic, focused approach, and that we be as efficient as possible with the resources we have. With help from our impact calculations, you can see how many animals’ lives can potentially be improved for every dollar you give. And you can trust your donation is being spent wisely.

“As an organization, we continually strive to have the greatest impact possible on the lives of farmed animals by reducing the most suffering.”
—Leah Garces, US Executive Director, Compassion in World Farming

We've crunched the numbers, and they're pretty astounding. We’re proud of how many animals a single dollar can help, but what does it actually look like? Quite simply, it looks like this:

man holding chick_pg.jpg

Your support matters to her. And for less than $2 a day for one year, you can reduce suffering for a million of her friends, too.

Efficient. Effective. Relentless.

The Compassion USA Food Business Team works closely with companies to attack the factory farming problem at its root. Your support helps us phase out the worst-of-the-worst factory farming practices, like confining laying hens in tiny, barren battery cages. And we don't stop until the job is done: we stay vigilant in our mission to ensure that food businesses can and will stick to their animal welfare commitments through transparent progress reports.

Everyday, we ask food businesses to be transparent with their customers. We think we should be just as transparent with supporters like you.

So, how effective is our approach? How much suffering do we reduce for every dollar we spend? Our new dollar-by-dollar accounting shows how much farm animal suffering can be reduced with your donation.

For example, we take a commitment from a food business like Boston Market, which recently announced a policy to improve the lives of 21 million broiler chickens per year. We then factor in the other partner organizations who helped us along the way, as well as the number of years it will take to achieve the goals outlined in the corporate commitment. We also use the latest research to inform us about what it takes to alleviate animal suffering.
